Interview of Homo Digitalis in the newspaper "TA NEA" on the risks of digital assistants as psychotherapists
Homo Digitalis gave an interview to the Greek newspaper “TA NEA” and journalist Natalia Dionysioti on the risks associated with the increasingly common phenomenon of AI-powered “digital assistants” being used as psychotherapists.
Our organisation was represented by our Executive Director, Eleftherios Chelioudakis, while valuable insights were also provided by Dr. Dimitrios Papadimitriadis, psychiatrist and psychotherapist.
We should keep in mind that when we share thoughts or information with a chatbot, we are not entrusting them to a mental health professional, but to a private technology company. Even when data protection policies and legal safeguards are in place, in practice users have very limited control over how their data is processed or how it may be used in the future.
Looking at it from a different perspective, we would hardly share our most personal thoughts with a company that manufactures shoes or soft drinks. So why do we do it so easily with a technology company?

Yesterday, on 11/6, Homo Digitalis participated in the re:constitution ‘s third Fellows’ Exchange meeting in Athens, co-organised with the UNIC Athens!
Our member Tania Skrapaliori represented us there, speaking at the session titled “Freedom of expression as a cornerstone and challenge of democracy”. The session was moderated by re:constitution’s alumna Taygeti Michalakea, with contributions also from Iasonas Gousetis(Hellenic League for Human Rights), and Stavros Malichudis (Solomon).

Homo Digitalis delivers an educational seminar at the General Lyceum of Dorio in Messinia
On Saturday, 16/05, Homo Digitalis visited the General Lyceum of Dorio in Messinia to participate in an event organised by the school’s Young Ambassadors Team (EPAS – European Parliament Ambassador School) and the Municipality of Oichalia!
Stergios Konstantinou represented Homo Digitalis at the event, delivering a free educational seminar for local residents on topics related to Cybersecurity, Fake News, and Personal Data Protection.

Participation of Homo Digitalis in the “Copyright & Access in the Age of AI” event in Cyprus.
Homo Digitalis is delighted to participate as a speaker at the event organised on Monday, 11 May, in Nicosia by Knowledge Rights 21, the Foundation for Parliamentarism and Participatory Democracy (House of Representatives – Parliament of Cyprus), and the Cyprus Association of Librarians and Information Scientists (CALIS).
Distinguished speakers will discuss issues relating to the use of Artificial Intelligence technologies by modern libraries. Through its presentation, Homo Digitalis will focus on personal data protection, the prohibition of discrimination, and the environmental footprint of the use of large language models.

Homo Digitalis successfully participated in a scientific online event on the Digital Omnibus package
On Thursday, February 26, 2026, Homo Digitalis had the honor of delivering a presentation at a scientific online event organized by the Society of Administrative Studies in collaboration with the European Laboratory for Bioethics, Technoethics and Law of Panteion University, on the topic of the European Commission’s proposals to amend provisions on personal data protection (Digital Omnibus).
Homo Digitalis was represented by Stefanos Vitoratos, while presentations were also delivered by Dr Giorgos Rousopoulos (Hellenic Data Protection Authority) and Dr Zoe Kardasiadou (Official at the European Commission, Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers).
The discussion was moderated by Dr. Fereniki Panagopoulou-Koutnatzi, Associate Professor at Panteion University, while opening remarks were delivered by Dimitrios Skaltsounis, President of the Society of Administrative Studies and former President of the Council of State.
We express our warm thanks to the organizers for the honorable invitation and for the opportunity they offered us to participate in a fruitful dialogue and a meaningful exchange of arguments and views.
Homo Digitalis successfully completed its participation in the AI & Ethics Conference
On Friday, February 20, Homo Digitalis had the great pleasure of speaking at the AI & Ethics Conference!
The conference panels sparked discussions with a critical perspective, while public institutions, the academic community, the market, and civil society exchanged ideas and views on how artificial intelligence can remain human-centered while also being compatible with the protection of Fundamental Rights.

What does it mean to put the Human above the Algorithm? This question lies at the heart of the Panhellenic Conference “Hematology as an Interdisciplinary Meeting Point: From the Algorithm to the Human”, organized by the Interdisciplinary Society for Research in Hematology on March 26–28, 2026, in Ioannina.
Three days of free debates, AI workshops, interdisciplinary sessions, and open discussions on topics that are rarely spoken about openly — from toxic behavior in hospitals to patients’ rights in the age of data.
We warmly thank hematologist and Associate Professor of Hematology at the School of Health Sciences, Department of Medicine, University of Ioannina, Eleftheria Chatzimichail, for the honorable invitation to Homo Digitalis and other members of the Greek AI Network (GAIN) to participate.
