We were present at the EDRi GA for 2026!
Last weekend, the European Digital Rights network met for our Annual General Assembly in Warsaw, Poland! Our Co-founder and President of the BoD, Elpida Vamvaka, represented Homo Digitalis there!
The GA brought together 91 participants from 20 countries, representing 50 organisations! It was composed of 3 days of meetings and workshops to strategise about tackling the biggest DigitalRights challenges of our time!
We were thrilled to welcome Danes je nov dan, ESWA , Mnemonic, Politiscope and petites singularités as EDRi members, and Oxfam Ireland as new organisational observers to our expansive and diverse network!
Over the weekend, the General Assembly also re-elected Andrej Petrovski, Director of Tech at the SHARE Fondacija and Isabela Fernandes, Executive Director of the The Tor Project to the EDRi Board. Andrej and Isabela remain the President and the Treasurer of the Board respectively!
At a time of immense challenges in our field, from funding cuts to the ever-powerful tech lobbies amidst rising authoritarianism, seeing each other in person, exchanging solidarity and tactics, and envisioning a more just digital future together has never been more important!
A huge thank you to our hosts Fundacja Panoptykon for a warm welcome and a memorable weekend!
Our GAIN event with the supervisory authorities of Article 77 of the AI Act was successfully concluded
Yesterday’s event, which we co-organized with the civil society network Greek AI Network – GAIN at the offices of network member WHEN Hub, was successfully completed.
The event opened with a welcoming address by our Co-founder and Treasurer of the Board, Konstantinos Kakavoulis. This was followed by educational presentations from representatives of two fundamental rights authorities under Article 77 of the AI Act, namely Dr. Efrosyni Siougle from the Hellenic Data Protection Authority and Dr. Christos Tsevas from the Greek National Commission for Human Rights.
Finally, during the Members in the Spotlight Session, our member and DPO Executive / GDPR Expert, Dimos Kostoulas, delivered an educational presentation on the processing of personal data in the healthcare sector and the use of Artificial Intelligence systems in this field.
We warmly thank the speakers, the members of the GAIN network, and the members of Homo Digitalis who joined us both online and in person, as well as the other organizations that honored us with their presence.
The event was held within the framework of the GAIN program, with the support of the European AI & Society Fund.
